You’re probably wondering what does unicorns have to do with harpies. In Secrets Kept, Desmond tells a story that’s been in his family for generations. A story that is illustrated in one of the tapestries that hangs in his uncle’s manor. It’s a story of three young sisters who were determined to find the elusive unicorns but meet their demise at the hands of the Harpy Lord. The very same Harpy Lord whom Ayianna and her companions run into in Nganjo. Although, I fear we have not seen the last of him.
The Harpy Lord lives in castle, teetering on the edge of the Abyss. He rules over the harpies and all manner of nasty beasts you can imagine. His name used to be Nach. Throughout the story, you’ll notice his name comes up a few times. We actually first meet him at the very end of Dragon Thief, before he became the Harpy Lord. How that happened exactly is unknown, but he and Semine used to be friends. Sort of. Raezana, whom, Semine serves, chose him to bear the soul of her departed beloved, Stygian, but he refused, turning away from Raezana, Semine, and the rest of Nälu. Now, he bides his time in Nganjo, waiting for the Perimeter to fail. Then he and his harpies will cross over and usher in the end of Nälu.
